Mixed Emotions

Mixed Emotions

A Poem by The Iron Horseman
"

Powerful emotions can have powerful effects. They can heal, they can harm. Sometimes they are just a stew.

"

Trauma,

What a pain.

Stress,

Oh, not again.

Pity,

All those tears.

Anxiety,

All those fears.

Angst,

Woe is me.

Anger,

Let me be.

Envy,

Burns inside.

Jealousy,

A red tide.

Hate,

Corrosive acid.

Calm,

Lake Placid.

Love,

Soothing balm.

Bliss,

Fear no harm.

Even tho I really like your overall message, the outstanding thing here is your wordplay. I love the puzzle-like way the lines are crafted to be parallel but nicely varying & good rhyming. It isn't even a message, really. It's showing the transformation that's possible if we recognize our negativity & turn it around. You used the perfect amount of bad stuff with a nice ending of good stuff, well balanced. This is the poster child for show instead of tell (first rule of good writing). Fondly, Margie

I wish i could write like you.. Your words are like spears - cutting sharp words. Such a beautiful way to express so many emotions. I like the structure. Glad I dropped by.

OK, here we go again!!! This poem oddly reminds me one by Dorothy Parker called Resume`! I have always enjoyed that poem. I memorized it in high school. No, not because I had to, but because I liked it that much! What a lyrical way to discuss emotions. Notice how I used the word "lyrical" instead of the word "love". Well, even though I did love it!! Ha!! Yes, I had to go there.

What a powerful flow of words, pouring down the page in the agony of existence. Thankful that such pain can be transformed into peace, and longing for that transformation always.

Thank you.
it is indeed a mixture of emotions a person has to undergo in his life, it will always depend on the will power of a person to understand himself and accept whatever life has to offer. a unique kind of poem that i have enjoyed reading.

Thank you.
Simplistic comparative description, almost as if you were viewing a painters palette for emotions.
