Psychedelia

Psychedelia

A Poem by Jerald Infant Jeyarethinam
"

A story in a song

"

Boy meets girl

I opened my eye

In just another ordinary day

You stepped into my life

Swept my heart away

The thunder of your heartbeat

Is all that I see

The thing called love

Could it really be?

Deep in your eyes

I see a flame

Captivated in the glow

I wish the time remains the same

I reach up to the sky

I pull out a star

With all the love that lie

I want to take you so far

Girl meets boy

The day you walked into my life

I’m lost in confusion and bliss

Is it the dream or the wish?

That I’m gonna miss

You have a special something

          I can’t figure it out

I know this could be real

          But I can’t judge what love’s about

People often grow

          And grow apart

You’ll change

          And then you’ll go

Love is that ecstasy

          Quite rare

My emotions are both

          Near and fair

Boy proposes

In the book of my life

I've searched for a page

It’s called love

Will you be that page?

I've waited so long

I’m not flattering you down

Come fly with me

In the red of the beautiful sun

Come sing with me

In the blues of the clear sky

Come dance with me

In the green of the nature around

Come take my hand

In the black of the darling night

Come with me

Together let’s knock the heaven’s door.

Girl disposes

There are so many words

That I cannot say

Looking into your eyes

I may one day

But now

I’m running away speechless

For now

I’m being heartless

I say it to your eye

I’m not your butterfly

It’s hurting

As it’s you

Let me go

Will you?

Melodrama between the boy and the girl

Boy:

I walk past her

She walks past me

Girl:

I walk past him

He walks past me

Boy:

Do you wake into the night?

And wonder why

Do you feel arms holding you tight?

Let out a sigh

Girl:

Look into your heart

Do you still see me?

Look into your mind

Is it still thinking of me?

Boy:

Vanishing in the echoes

You are my only dream in the night

My heart beats as one

As I've seen the perfect light

A whisper in the wind

 I send

I will be your friend

Till the very end

Girl:

When I close my eyes

          I see the light

That radiates

          From your heart

A light that left a pathway

          For my heart to follow

I fly to you

          With hope as my feathers

Truly one

Boy:

The soul that was truly meant to be

God created you for me

Girl:

There is nothing more so sweet

Love is happiness complete

Boy and girl Chorus:

Let the Colors fill the sky

Let no meteors pass us by

Your smile

Your touch

Your heart

You and I

Till the end of time,

I'm in love with you.

You can almost turn this into a play if you wanted! I have to say that as someone whose never been in love and know idea what it all means, this poem does a good job giving me an idea of that! And, that is not an easy feet, this was well written and very unique!

Very interesting style for this poem. Often poems only stay with a single perspective, but you did a good job of doing both. Neither stood out from each other, instead they stood as one. I'm usually not a fan of love stories, but you still managed to catch my eye with this one. Good job.

The visual movement of the piece really pulled it all together well. It flowed nicely and I was very surprised to find how easily I could relate to it all. I have to say my favorite section is that of "Girl Disposes". It's very cleverly written. Overall, it's quite a lovely piece.

I believe its fantastic Jerry, just the way you have designed this poem is great without even mentioning the story which evokes emotions both happy, sad and happy again, your writing is immaculate and the whole work as one piece is outstanding bravo :)
