Summer

Summer

A Poem by MsJewel
"

~ just a little scribble ~

"

art ~ garmash

Caught in the sigh of the ocean breeze

time seems to stand still

and today is as easy

as the lace tipped waves

chasing the seabirds into the sky

sharp cries fading with the crash of the tide

as the sun dances a smooth tango of diamond light

in perfect harmony

and me

            on the shore…

toes digging into the damp sand

teasing the sand crabs from their cool slumber

the breeze in my hair

the sun warm on my face

thinking…

absolutely nothing

Summer is here

             let time stand still….

My dear friend what can I say about this.
A nice departure from your usual genre. I love the descriptions you captured so well. Things we all experience.
the breeze in my hair, the warm sun on my face, digging toes into the sand, etc.
The reader, me in this case, is slowed in the reading by your intelligent use of indents and spacings and that allows the images to build in the mind. It brings back forgotten moments.
Very well done.

Thank you sweetie! :) Julie
stunning poem...The imagery you captured in this write
is tranquil, reflective. You have an incredible talent for
soft, mystical words with depth that takes the reader
away. this is simply stunning.

I am a Floridian...I detest summers, but reading this,
makes it easier for me to deal with the humidity.

beautiful poem...thanks for sharing! :))

I loved these stanza's lines.

Caught in the sigh of the ocean breeze

time seems to stand still

and today is as easy

as the lace tipped waves

chasing the seabirds into the sky

sharp cries fading with the crash of the tide

as the sun dances a smooth tango of diamond light

in perfect harmony

I'll be honest - the rest of the thing as a whole doesn't do much for me as it's nothing unprecedented, and I was ready to click away until those two lines caught my eye:

"sharp cries fading with the crash of the tide

as the sun dances a smooth tango of diamond light"

Brilliant! What a vivid and instantly imaginable picture. It looks like you really get into your groove and really shine when you describe movement rather than stillness, as the rest of the poem is fairly static ? Just a thought ;) (And I'm not a professional or claim to know loads and loads, just as an observer)
