The Willow Weeps

The Willow Weeps

A Poem by Legion
"

Life through a tree.

"

The Willow Weeps

The willow sees,

Its sight saturated with the sadness

Of living,

Seeing that which

Stains the soil with sorrow

And scorn.

The willow sways,

Its limbs encumbered by the entropy

Of living,

Feeling that which

Ferments and feeds, with ferocity,

On felicity.

The willow bleeds,

Its apparation appalled at the apathy

Of living,

Believing in those

That belied and beguiled.

Its heart burdened.

The willow weeps,

Its tears tainted with the turpitude

Of living.

Withering away.

Worn and weary within,

Wasted without.

Lovely repition and very well worded with great imagery as well! Emotion, raged yet calm, seems to hang down in branches and touch the reader. Excellent work, great poem!

Dear Legion,

A beautiful poem, My Friend. Very reflective.

Congratulations on the first place win in the alliteration contest. Well deserved.

All the best,

Rick

Maybe I was drawn to this due to my love of willow trees. We have a giant one in the yard by the creek. This metaphor was so beautifully painted, that I am not sure whether to hug you or my sad willow tree.

Really nice job with this one. I enjoyed reading it.

To me this poem reminds me of how we abuse nature and expect the trees to be able to deal with it, as if they were inanimate objects. Our pollution and greed will destroy them and thereby destroy us. Really soulful and sad poem. I love trees and value their job. This poem brings them alive, even if the tree itself is struggling to deal with our 'stuff'. The stuff most of us rarely notice. Nice one.

When I lived up north, there were huge Weeping Willows bowing into streams and their beauty was so amazing. You really personified well in your poem and show the sadness they portray. Excellent discriptions and thoughts.

I love this. I have always loved willow trees.
My kids and I sing a song to tell the weeping willow not to cry whenever we pass by one.

I loveweeping willows for their beauty but hated how well their limbs could be broken off and used as whipping tools.
