A Better World

A Better World

A Poem by Leslie Philibert
"

pop poetry

"
China will be declared part of the Peoples Republic of Tibet ; Somalia will send
food parcels to the Swiss and the Mexicans will build a fence to prevent illegal
immigration from the United States. There will be a Queen in Saudia Arabia and
P***y Riot will be elected to the Duma. The Taliban will build a church in Kabul
and invite the Pope and his wife to open it. Fast food will slow down ; the Israelis
will paint their nuclear weapons gay pink and ship them to Iran , North Korea will
be renamed Happyville.A clown will be named President of the World Bank and
North Africa wll accept refugees from Europe.

Facebook will discover that friends are real people,my sons might understand that
my car needs petrol and my wife will stop buying shoes.

And if you thought that poetry can`t change anything, you are right.
But it`s worth a try, isn`t it ?

yes, it is worth a try...the world will go on and not so many will read us, but for those who do, maybe we will make a difference...

i'm taken by what you wrote in the "about me"

"im not important i just want to write a couple of good poems"

the emphasis where i feel it should be.."On the word itself, not on us, the poets"

the poetry is what matters...we are just instruments from which the words evolve---

i like the personification of facebook in this..

This made me laugh! It reminds me of the 'Sunscreen song', full of nuggets of wisdom which the young will not heed, the politicians will not read and the rest will carry on with their lives of greed!! ;-)
I really enjoyed this write, well done and thank you for the smile!

A brilliant piece of philanthropy in your words and although tinged with a tad of sarcasm, the poem's irony is tremendous!

An intelligent piece Leslie, funny, yet serious all at the same time, enjoyable to read & review!

It is certainly worth a try. I quite liked this piece.

Fast food will slow down

The Taliban will build a church in Kabul
and invite the Pope and his wife to open it.

For some reason, these two were my favourites. But I am all for your wife buying shoes. Viva el Zapato.
