memories
      invisible for so long
suddenly appear
with the touch
of an evil magician’s wand
         presto!

there they are again
   in all their glory
words burn my tongue
as i say them for the first time
in what seems like forever
               they do a dance
before making a swan dive
into the audible world
a sort of non-retaliatory depository
as it were
and it is then i realize
they belonged to not only me
i was not the only one
who cried myself to sleep remembering
                 and somehow
                              that makes all the difference

Yes, it's so important and it makes a difference when you share your pain to someone. It lessens your burden...having such feeling that someone helps you carry your loads. But it's not a one-sided thing. Somehow you wanted someone to treat you the same...that you could also be a shoulder to cry on. And it really makes a difference...and creates a strong connection.
This is great, Lydi. Thanks for the share.

Sharing pain sometimes does help. I agree. Though, it can be difficult. Not a lot of people can see the way through to sharing pain before it destroys you from the inside out. It's understandable. And I think that's what this poem addresses; the difficulty of letting a burden go so that one is no longer the bearer of a burden that comes with memories.
This is a good piece. I like it.

Lydi i shed a tear with this one. This piece hits home for me. The pain we carry sometimes is soley ours and we hang onto this pain for what feels like an eternity without sharing and often find ourselves alone. Its a scary place and one that should never be walked alone. It took me many years to share my pain and stop walking a lonely road. In turn I have also learnt that there are many like me, many who need and deserve the same in return and that is someone that understand that can provide that support and guidance. Life is to not only have someone there for you to share your pain but for you to help share someone else's pain. Py it forward I say. Loved it Lydi....loved it.

It sure helps to have someone or somebody that are willing to listen. And empathize with us when we find ourselves between a rock and a hard place.

Absolutely, Neil, you know it. Thanks for the review. Lydi**
Yes indeed, its good to talk and a problem shared is a problem halved !

A heartfelt, reflective, poetic soliloquy and so perfectly pertinent !

Thanks so much, Tom! Lydi**
Memories shared maybe beautiful...but also less painful...and a little less haunting. Like they say, Shared joy is a double joy; shared sorrow is half a sorrow. Such an emotionally powerful piece Lydi...really reaches out and grabs the heart. Beautiful, my friend.

Yes! Yes! Yes!
It is so hard to "go it alone" or to know one you love is feeling like they are alone. You can tell someone they are not suffering alone, but they still have to invite you in...

Here I see you accepting the comfort of a kindred soul.
Beautiful!
