Worth

Worth

A Poem by M.H. Bones
"

"

Look

Outside for swaying lions

Flashbacks triggered by the empty scent

Crisp night air engulfs the waking world

Beyond

Passion and desire flooding

Lies treasure doused in lifeless pirates

Curb rooted cravings while thinking to

Yourself

Why mine fruitless and work tireless?

Black diamonds linger, buried deep within in our fears

Atop the apex of solitude and the pit of self-loathing

To

Uncover is to conquer legions

Coal pressed firm by taunting pressure

Monument to the struggle of youth and fools

Find

Countless littered broken picks

Upon the jagged coastal shores

Washed away by crashing crests

Your

Journey is a sacred mission

Taken by the few who listen to their soul

Not heart that yearns nor mind that dances

Worth

Is what you seek, in this life and the next

Not pyrite touted as a fortune

Hidden in the golden iris

starring back into your face
