One Kiss

One Kiss

A Poem by Michelle Tarnowski
"

....let our kisses be without number

"

Not far from where you slept I watched you softly breathe.

I touched your lips, lightly tracing their shape

wishing for just one kiss to be mine.

With that thought my pulse quickened

and I knew that one kiss would never do.

No, it would be too cruel a thing.

One kiss and nothing more

would be like taking one breath

but never being allowed another.

One kiss and nothing more

would be like a hollow echo in a cavern cold and dark

after the sound of music heard in the warmth of the sun.

No my love, fill me with your kisses

or let me be your thief to steal them from your lips

until I can hold no more and you have nothing left to give.

Let me take them all, that I might return them to you.

Like drops of rain falling down or the stars in the sky

which are too many to count

let our kisses be without number.

Because one kiss will never do.

A sweet and lovely poem on the power of kisses...Bravo...................

Basically, this poem appears to be a genuine homage to the wonderful experience of passionate kissing. In particular, the writer has decided to focus on the value of kissing in a loving relationship between two partners. Indeed, each kiss could be said to seal or confirm the strength of that relationship? Or, simply to re-affirm the commitment of a woman to her man in their relationship? The metaphors in this piece are pretty good (and apt), whilst the poem manages to keep a romantic atmosphere throughout. Thankyou, Michelle! Keep writing!
