More Questions for God

More Questions for God

A Poem by Michael (Letters and Lifelines)

Unexpected.

I don't get it.

I've never,
Felt so cold before.

It flows through my veins.

Like vicious pain.

I always thought,
That I had more.

And why,
Can't I die,
Before my time?
Maybe it would ease my mind.

And I,
Try to lie,
But don't you know -
That I don't really want to go?

Will this last?

Or will this pass?

Will I ever be the same,
Just like before?

A simple plea.

Do you hear me -

When I scream,
That I can't take this anymore?

And why,
Can't I die,
Before my time?
Maybe it would ease my mind.

And I,
Try to lie,
But don't you know -
That I don't really want to go?

One day,
I'll pray,
And you'll say,
I'll be okay.

But is this all my fault?

Until,
You will,
I'll be still.

But is this all my fault?

Just let me know,
Because I don't really want to go.

hey Michael! i really like this poem. my interpretation of it is as a plea from someone who is suffering on their deathbed or has a terminal illness, because "unexpected" and "never felt so cold" sounds like the body is shutting down and it's a painful death, and the narrator wants to get it over with if death is approaching but at the same time wishes to stay alive longer, bargaining for more time. i like it, good job!

Anticipating death like Socrates did, the Stoics said look death in the eye, be prepared than it will not surprise you. Pre-empting death so it eases your mind from the terror.

That is what I get from this.

Could you review some of mine, I would appreciate feedback.

Alan Watts thoughts on death: "Now there really isn’t anything radically wrong with being sick or with dying. Who said you’re supposed to survive? Who gave you the idea that it’s a gas to go on and on and on?"

I say you only fear the unknown. People are afraid of death because they dont know what awaits them. and when you say " and why can't i die, before my time? maybe it would ease my mind." i can assure you i've asked myself the same question.

This gave me literal thoughts. Bravo

This was written very well. I feel we all ask these questions from time to time. It's just apart of life. But G-d certainly hears everything. (: Well done!

P.S. Would you mind checking out my novel, HIM? Before sending it off for publishing, I'd love it if I could have as much constructive criticism as possible. (:

Somethings we will never understand. Life leave us with open windows for opportunity. I tell people. Take the good road. Always a better ending. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

Always a pleasure to read your words and thoughts and you are welcome.
This is very touching and I can relate much. We all pass this stage when we have doubts and we need to hold on to something to believe in.
God is always at work...

Great piece!

thanks for the giggle :-)
This is a powerful piece that conjures up images of both internal and external conflicts. As I read I found myself questioning what the conflict was. Great words!
