Birth

Birth

A Poem by Melissa

When the girl died,
no one was watching her.
No one memorialized her.
Only the baby cried.
No one mourned her for weeks,
and even then, only secretly.

i have an idea as to why no one mourned her for weeks...and then just secretly...
shame can really push us into the shadows...a baby loves its mother no matter what she is or what she has done.
and with each death there is a birth...the cycle of it all.

a tale told so very well & in so few words... the devil of course is in the detail...

Everyone that now stumbles across these fine words, or are otherwise lured here for and whatever reason, will now be asking Why... What... and How........... artfully done my friend........ Neville

Six lines holding a huge story......
Somewhere I had read sometimes people mourn at someone's birth....as the new soul on earth will go away someday....and at someone's death they become happy in expectations of welcoming another life that'll come soon....and in this way life's cycle keeps resonating.....I guess I've taken your poem totally in another way...but your one is indeed a good short read...thanks for sharing :)

Cast out in shame, that is what is coming through to me strongly here. A powerful little write which makes you want to know more, especially what happened to the baby? Death and life in a few short lines. Thank you.

There's sort of a back story to this that seems to be hiding. It has a secret vibe to it that's kind of eerie.

I like it. :)

Powerful stuff. I know there's a story to be told, and it could go more than one way.
