Addiction is a Four Letter Word

Addiction is a Four Letter Word

A Poem by Melissa Kester

I see the habits
I see the lies
I see you hiding
Behind your disguise
You think that we
Have misjudged you
You think that we
Are lying too
But we see the habits
We see the mistakes
We see the actions
You choose to take
You say you love us
But do you really
When we need you most
You're out there dealing
You say you hate it
The drugs you use
You say you need it
But you've not abused
I see different
I've seen you clean
You once were happy
And now you're mean
I think you have
Those two words confused
Love and hate
They can't be fused
For it's love you think you feel
Towards your little pills
It's hate you feel for us
For suppressing your fill
You see, I see the habits
I see the lies
I can see you hiding
Behind your disguise

¡Fantástico! Bravo! You're missing a "that" in Line 7 and a "see" in Line 11, but other than that, well done!!

I feel like I'm there with you, this poem touched me. Addiction is a terrible thing and I feel like your work really conveys that.
