Rain, Rain

Rain, Rain

A Poem by Kelly Scheppers

Rain, Rain

Intermittent drops of rain

are falling,

plummeting from sleepy subway trains

and window panes,

leaving traces behind

as people shuffling through

                  splash

through its puddles, plentiful.

Rush! Hours ahead, hours left behind . . .no one stops to see or ponder the beauty of just one ephemeral bead of rain. Too much for granted we take, too little we leave behind. (had to revisit this as I kept thinking about it)

I feel the same, Charles. Thank you for the revisit...and feel free to come back anytime!
This reminds me of goodbyes for some reason....people trudging through my life and my tears falling behind as I board for the next connection....sigh

This was really good. I see a commentary on our society always rushing and wrapped up in individual pursuit.

Rainy days always indulge me. I love your perception, James...thank you!
The imagery is incredible here. I have said it before...you are the Queen of Brevity. Rain....brings up all sorts of emotions. Wonderful, Kelly. Lydi**

...so sorry I'm so late in thanking you, Lydi! I really appreciate this!
Once again you reign supreme in bringing the ordinary into extraordinary focus.

...and once again you delight the senses! Thank you!
The rain can be romantic and it can be a pain depending on where you are and what you're doing. The mundane shuffle of feet and the window pane are quite a contrast and bring the two together with a splash in this poem. Puddles are cool. That is unless you're wearing new shoes and socks.
