WORD CRUMBS

WORD CRUMBS

A Poem by M.Babu
"

"Tastiest crumbs, ever"

"

Follow the pattern the letters leave,

Melding into complete words.

Words into sentences and finally

Paragraphs coming forth.

Now let the words delve deep,

Involuntarily you should feel something.

As the ink was spread across pages,

So should the emotion be brimming.

As your eyes follow the wordcrumbs,

Across the strewn path of my hallowed mind.

Excitement shows itself,

As you’re unsure of what you’re bound to find.

As fear sweeps across the page in a swirl,

The lights but flicker in your room.

Words are coming to life at will,

The table’s shaking and so are you.

Tarmac roads become dusty winding paths,

Automobiles become horse drawn carriages.

Buildings become naught but a magical canvas,

On which you spew forth your variables.

Mystical creatures’ eyeing you from the shadows,

Your adventure’s started off gravely.

But a wreckless smile spreads across your face,

As if you wished that this was really reality.

You launch bravely into the world,

A magnificent fire in your eyes, ignited.

You unsheathe that sword as if you’ve mastered it,

And swing it mightily towards the demons sighted.

Another page sweeps across,

As more challenges await you.

You smile brilliantly and dash forward,
Brightened at the aspect of doom.

Alone in your room,
Book in hand?
Or Prince of the Mighty,
Brave and Grand?

Follow the pattern the letters leave,

Wordcrumbs down the Rabbit Hole

Words formed out of bits of your brain, put together out of sections of glances, little patterns, recognised sounds. There can't be a story with this, only reality, how things actually are for the writer, not the character. The fear, the shaking, will come when the words fall away and we go into the world made of words on top of confusion.

I am not a huge fan of poetry, it just really isn't something I enjoy reading, 99% of the time. However, occasionally something catches my eye. This time it was your title, it drew me in and had my mind thinking hundreds of different possibilities of what your poem would be about. But it didn't matter how many ideas I had thought up, your piece was much different than any of them, and it was incredible and well-written. The descriptions pulled me into your imagination and I got to picture what it was you were thinking while this piece came to life through your artistic hands. I can't say you are a talented writer in a sense that you were "grammatically correct" but it was an amazing piece and I think you could inspire many with your words.

Thank you for sharing this piece with me.

A seance like atmosphere - when words, characters seem to get channelled onto the page!

ah! the magical process of writing and reading!

A great exposition of the way a non-verbal view perceives words and its effect on the changing perceptions of the man. Its like educating an animal to speak. Nicely done.
