Altho I don’t know London, I could easily visualize this using “LA” . . . the city can be a lonely place despite being surrounded by swarms of people . . . and despite having so much to do there in a big city . . . I guess it all depends on what’s going on inside & how it reflects on the outside. Your poem delivers a powerful taste of how impersonal big city life can be (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

I really liked this! London is one of my favourite places in the world to visit, but it's not a place that is particularly welcoming to new people, and it's a very lonely place to feel like you're "on the outside of everything" while everyone else rushes around with such purpose.

Hate the place. Being a village boy at heart the hustle, bustle, constant noise and air filled with fumes and the smell of fried food does absolutely nowt for me. Plus, the place is full of people tearing around at 100mph with little or no manners.

absolutely........cheers Gee so terribly appreciated eh' wot........N
I feel the cold London rain and dense fog in this poem Neville. I’ve never been there though. Being NYC born and raised, I truly identify with your excellently expressed, cold, painful, drizzled picture of big-city life. Stark, powerful verses with noir imagery and great use of alliteration and repetition. “L is for London”, yes.

Actually we can't agree if it is the front or back yard. Lol
Either way I like it
My parents were both Londoners, mother from east end , father from west ham. When they moved up here during the war my father settled quite happily, but my mother never did, until her dying day she hated the north and Germans lol. Mind you she was blitzed out several times .

Did a lot of courting in Stratford & West Ham.... sounds like your ma had every reason....
i did not know that london can be a lonely place i thought next to paris there is always fun and excitement. so with a different angle of london had made me informed and abreast of this place. nice writing my friend.
London is a huge city and it is well known that even with all those people there it can still be a really lonely and despairing place. There is a mix of great wealth and poverty. I am a Londoner, but I moved away and I will never go back because it has changed beyond belief since I lived there as a child. I am sad about that, and you have created a mood of sadness and loneliness in your poem. I felt you. Nicely done.
