Lessons of the Wind

Lessons of the Wind

A Poem by Sharon Miller Bolander
"

Personification of the wind

"

Consider the wind;

She cleaves to her solemn secrets

Yet never requests a calm reprieve.

Her duty’s a higher calling;

Her strength is a strong belief.

As breeze, she may waft

In gentle, soft whispers flowing

Beyond all the cares of worldly strife.

She sings to the needy beggar;

She hums to the lonely child.

As gust, she must blow

To stir little thoughts gone empty

And wake silent dreams from beds unkempt.

She swirls ‘round the weary thinker;

She pushes the dragging feet.

As draft, she shall chill;

The brave and the bold will shiver.

Like winter, she claims her own respect.

She cools down the overbearing;

She tones down the self-assured.

As gale, she can pound

When sense is so sorely lacking

And listeners, few and far between.

She yells to the unrelenting;

She screams at the arrogant.

Consider the wind;

She changes when change is needed

And steadies herself when time is right.

She whispers of hope undying;

She shares all her love of life.
