Regrets

Regrets

A Poem by Sharon Miller Bolander

Regrets

Love remained in words unspoken,
Silent, heartfelt thoughts not shared.
Time and space, in churning motion,
Hid the fact that two once cared.

Cared enough through joy and sorrow,
Shared enough to be a friend,
Both felt more than what each uttered---
Silent to the bitter end.

End, abrupt as death's cold shadow,
Friend, a flash before her eyes---
Moments spent in tears of laughter
Circled into saddest cries.

Eyes recall their days together;
Cries relay the anguish felt.
If she could but do it over,
In his arms, she'd surely melt.
