Cold

Cold

A Poem by Richard Helbert

The feel of the cold wind
it is the one thing alive
in a time of death
it refreshes and reboots
the soul

To be truly cold is to be alive
it reflects life in all its glory
simple and sweet and pure
cold and painful so uncompromising
and that is something worthy of respect
real and raw and beautiful
its power is one of subtle grace
yet it always is there
reminding us that we are what we are
fragile and weak at times
yet we survive
and that is all that matters
