Uncut

Uncut

A Poem by Richard Helbert

it was love
in its purest form
like the most powerful drug
coursing through my veins
leaving me unable to function
higher than i have ever been
then in an instant it was gone
nothing left but pain
unimaginable withdraws
sucking what is left of my soul
into the darkness
loss and regret  my only friends
the pain they bring
makes me feel alive
its the only thing i have left
and i cherish it
it's all i got
and i will never let it go

thank you so much for taking time to read this and for the comment it is much appreciated
A raw and emotional poem. I can definitely relate to this one. The loss of a love can be so painful, yet we simply want to continue holding onto them, to their memory.
