A Poem by Samantha Tamburello

The happiest I've ever felt is when I glided across the soccer field, barefoot before the rain started. The air was lighter than light and my hair was bouncing in my face and all around me. I couldn't help but grin. A big ear to ear grin and mouth wide enough to catch flies. My arms slowly raised out to my sides and it was like I was flying. I was only half way to shelter and the rain was to begin any second as I could hear the Earth's rumbling thunder. It fueled my excitement. What an adventure it would be to run and feel the Earth's liquid shower over me, further grounding me to my home planet. So simple but I felt so free. Nobody else existed at that moment, though silhouettes surrounded me. I could smell the Earth's anticipation, pure petrichor. This was my happiest moment. However, the truth is my happiest moment could have been at the grocery store or at the doctor's office. In the mall or in my bed. If my mind allows me to feel happy, I am set free.

Oh how I would love to feel that freedom you write about. How I would love to forget this mess i've put on myself and frolic in the rain with my destiny dame. :(
