A heavy heart

Lies in my chest

And not a soul 

To see it.

Not a soul to 

See this

Heavy heart,

For Death has 

Taken them.

He came in

The night,

So cold and grey,

A veil of sadness

Hung round his

Shoulders.

His pale fingers

Grasped for any

Life left

To take.

A heavy heart he

Left me with,

And not a soul 

To see it.

Not a soul to 

See this

Heavy heart,

For Death has 

Taken them.

He took this soul,

The soul with 

A heavy heart.

He will take me

Into the night,

He will take

This soul,

The soul with

The heavy heart.

Such a sadness here. Sometimes writing helps the healing process, sometimes it magnifies emotions - only the writer knows.

Sariah, this is a lovely poem that wears a cloak of sadness, which makes it lovelier still. I do think it ends too abruptly, however. One more stanza would probably be enough.
