Genesis

Genesis

A Poem by Miss Shea

So you think you know?

You think you understand?
What this world has come to
You can never comprehend
Stealing lives of the innocent
A child now knows wrong
Souls are lost and dying
The love is forever gone
Lies are spun in tangled webs
People are trapped inside
No escape is provided
To leave the past behind
Arms wide open
Welcomes none
With eyes wide shut
The world grows numb
The pain is shunned
It’s for the weak
Strength in numbers
Is the strength we seek
We stand alone
Divided together
Falling as one

Failing forever
The world is quickly changing
The end growing near
And reality is the truth
We tuck away in our fears
We blind ourselves from the future
Turn away from the horrors
We refuse to see the violence
That happens right before us
This is the world we live in
And the world we’ve defaced
Now, we have finally come to learn
That  the world cannot be replaced
