Glass Rainbow

Glass Rainbow

A Poem by Silmara McGarry

Indescribably

I see you there luring me,

with your strikingly brilliant colours,

murmuring that I am the glow in your eyes,

when you look at me.

I can strongly feel your heart

beating in mine,

equal to an impressive swan dance ~

dazzlingly staged.

Tell me,

how can I cross those mountains

to kiss your eyelids,

to feel your woodsy scent

perfuming our love once again?

Wait a minute!

Did you just kiss me?

For, my heart pounds,

and I am out of breath!

No, I am fooling myself;

it was just a note you wrote,

sending a kiss,

while fiercely asking,

"Why can’t I be with you,

when I love you so much?"

Again and again…

I have been enchanted,

frequently reflective of when

will I be in your arms ~ afresh.

In droops,

madness and anger are jointly

taking over my mind,

since they have not  permitted

you to be with me.

While your heart howls

with pain and loneliness,

I remain myself,

but changed…

desolated without you.

Sadly,

I realize now,

you are still there…

beyond the glass rainbow.

Wow,, I saw someone had reviewed this on the feed and thought I would pop in and check it out and I am so glad I did. This is amazing. I could feel this deeply as I have faced something similar in my past. This poem instantly brought me back to a time when all that mattered was finding a way to be in that person' arms. Thank you so much for sharing this.

I suppose the heart
does grow fonder
when we're separated
from our loves..yet their
essence is ever near
and dear to. us even
though they're beyond
our reach .beyond the
glass rainbow...

nice work Sil

Hi Sil..
you're welcome;
all is well
here.
and thus the long distance relationship....i have been in a few of those....lots of letters back in our day.
you capture that so well here in an allegorical piece...the rainbow is just out of reach, the lover is just out of reach...but we can dream, fantasize and just imagine the touch...actually being together.
and i am sure the rainbow could be overwhelming to touch...but just as much...love seems that way too when it is strong enough.

Unfortunately, Peter. Thanks for reading :-)
Such a beautifully sorrowful flow of thoughts. There is a deep longing for connection, for the fulfillment of this love to move beyond the distance, yet the dark distance grows too high to overcome. Makes me wonder how many would read your words and feel them come alive in their own lives. Hope all is wondrous now in your world, dear poet.

SEPARATION ADDS TO THE CHARM OF RELATIONSHIP ISN'T IT, WE MISS THE PERSON, WE CREATE ALL SORTS OF BEAUTIFUL PICTURES, YET WE LOOK FOR THEM AGAIN AND AGAIN IN OUR MEMORIES. A BEAUTIFUL WORK, AND IN REALITY OF EVERYONE AT SOME POINT OF TIME. THANKS FOR SHARING AND WRITING IT:)

Hi Silmara it is nice to meet you and enjoy this amazing beautiful poem written with true beauty and class within a gorgeous presentation.
My teacher Richard sent me to read your prose and free verse writing and to study how you use the power of emotion and metaphor, this is what we're working on and I can say he sure is right about you and reading your poems has already helped me a lot with what he calls poetic voice.
I feel every word emotion loneliness deep in my heart Silmara, I hope he comes home to you soon, I thank you so very very much for sharing your wonderful poetry -- much love to you! :)

HUGGS!

Hey Courtney! Many thanks indeed for reading and your marvellous words :-)))
I love the symbolism and enhanced feeling you use. I also love the way you used personification to make the heart howl and call out.
Keep writing,
