Cottonwood Glances

Cottonwood Glances

A Poem by Kayla K

"In the depth of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer."  ~Albert Camus

"There shall be eternal summer in the grateful heart."  ~Celia Thaxter

"The summer night is like a perfection of thought."  ~Wallace Stevens

"In summer, the song sings itself."  ~William Carlos Williams

"The violets in the mountains have broken the rocks."  ~Tennessee Williams

"Break open a cherry tree and there are no flowers, but the spring breeze brings forth myriad blossoms."  ~Ikkyu Sojun

~*~

Cottonwood glances,
rose petal dances.
Foxglove wishes,
willow swishes.

~*~

Pale lavender blossoms,
faded photo albums.
Rainbow infected prisms,
dragonfly new come freedoms.

~*~

Rain drop roulette,
dodging all the drops.
Footprints in sand,
left by flip-flops.

~*~

Oak tree magnificent,
magnolia moment.
Amaryllis fragment,
imagination figment.

~*~

Sunflower flourish,
double iris magic.
Spinning time,
meadow frolic.

~*~

Carnival balloons,
left to the wind.
Climbing trees,
child knees skinned.

~*~

Evanescent whispers,
benevolent dreamers.
Dragonfly dancers,
crystallized glaciers.

~*~

Cowboy sunsets,
princess rescues.
Hidden secrets,
covering tattoos.

~*~

Climbing clematis vines,
fresh evergreen pines.

~*~

Constellation patterns,
secret heart caverns.

~*~

Washed up sea glass,
waiting on the shore.
Sweeping river,
wooden boats oar.

~*~

Front porch swings,
rocking chair flow.
Far from the west,
a breeze to blow.

~*~

Summer nights,
natural lights.
Dreams aplenty,
sing to me,
little birdie.

Author's Note

Kayla K
Thought up the first two lines, and the rest followed. Different than most my writing, but sometimes things have to be switched up a little, right? I guess it's my spring and summer wrapped up into a poem.

I like your improval on the rhyme structures. You're more personally involved in each.

About
I'm a cyclone of myself, a caterpillar delight still finding my wings. A balloon stuck up in the clouds, no one can bring me down from my high. Shattered into pieces, be careful when you pick .. more..
