Have you read Piers Anthony's "Xanth" series? Everything not in the land where the stories live is called "Mundania," where anyone who does not examine their own life is crushed by a great load of nothing.

The juxtapose of emptiness and heaviness of how having nothing feels like a crushing abundance of everything.
