Brain Bucket Rides Again

Brain Bucket Rides Again

A Poem by Tammy

A man
on his purple Harley
riding north on a two lane road
keeping just right of center
weaving in and out, in and out

stopping only when the traffic
ahead of the one eyed stallion
has stopped

moving only when
the faithful steed re-awakens

after its unexpected nap
to continue
weaving in and out, in and out

just right of center

His black leather pants, gloves and jacket,
with fringe down the legs, arms and sleeves,
beat an unsteady rhythm
with his less than smooth
gear shifts

His black don't mess with me
beanie brain bucket sits atop
his head

the way he rides I think
he should have invested
in the full face, but hey
that's just my opinion,
sunburn or a busted skull,

hm,

I guess you'd call that a
no brainer,

I laugh at my wit.

He continues on,
north he is bound
keeping just right of center
in and out, in and out

I send up a little prayer
for the bad a*s wannabe

here's hoping
gas prices will come down soon
so you can buy a car

and that

 you,
  your white socks
   and
    hush puppies
  stay vertical

Oh, too funny! I didn't see it coming until it was too late. . .

I love this! I laughed and laughed at the incongruity of the bad a*s wannabe wearing white socks and hush puppies with leather Harley gear. Too funny! My ex brother in law is a cop and he always called motorcycle helmets brain buckets. I once made the mistake of asking why and, EWWWW, regreted it! Very nice job capturing the fear we all share (I think) when someone is driving recklessly in our presence!

One of the best character poems I've read in an awfully long time! Loved it!
