I Detest You

I Detest You

A Poem by ToriSchrodi

Oh how I detest you.
Oh how I wish you had never waltzed into my life.
That crooked smile adorning your face.
I should've seen that cruel glint in your eyes.
But I was naive.

I thought I could handle your ever changing moods.
I thought I could withstand your anger.
Your anger that could churn the seas with its ferocity.

But even when you broke me...
you did not push me away.
Instead you built me in your image.
You slowly and painfully sewed me back together.
In and out
In and out
your needle went.

You gave me claws.
You gave me fangs.
You gave me a hatred for everyone around me.

So I guess I misspoke...
I do not detest you.
I detest what you did to me.

Hatred is a powerful emotion and it destroys not the person towards whom it's directed rather from where it's coming.. Some people just change the way how we were before having met them..
This is a powerful poem. I liked reading this. Nicely penned 👍

lua
powerful imagery that illustrates that outside of the heat of hatred, one does not despise the person they once loved, but rather what is left behind within them after their lover has gone
