The creature

The creature

A Poem by Ryan Falzon - Tymon
"

A Poem about the creatures we fight everyday.

"
There is a creature in the dark
and few do not fear it's bark
for it can scare the greatest Knight
and the land trembles when it takes flight.
I try to stand tall and ignore it's howl,
and it's smell, which is so foul.
I take a step forward, filled with fear
and I just might shed a tear.
The creature takes flight,
the earth trembles at it's might
I was told of tales to get him slain
All of which, ended up in vain.
The creature has spotted me,
as the trees make through
it lands fearfully and proud
as I scream aloud.
This is my final chance,
I shall hold my stance
And I shall not fail
I will live to tell the tale.
There is a creature in the dark
and you must not fear it's bark
for it can scare the greatest Knight
but it cannot hurt what you hold so tight.

Author's Note

Ryan Falzon - Tymon
Symbolic poem, I shall leave you to interprete,
Notice how in the end, we never know of the warrior's fate.

Also notice that when I described the creature I only described fearful, yet harmless aspects of it. It's smell, it's bark/howl, it's flight. Nothing about Claws, teeth horns etc...

The personified fear that is 'the creature' represents many a common, real or imagined, or intangible foe. The fight for life is a continuing one; sometimes garnering strength from the survival, sometimes reduced to smallness by its victory, sometimes triumph, sometimes victory and success, others often never to recover...

All this is conveyed within this dark and evocative poem, leaving itself open like a cycle that will return upon itself and repeat. It is told like a legend that hides within the everlasting existence of life through eternity..
