Ashes to Ashes

A poem about how alone I feel sometimes and how I think others do too.

Ashes fall from the sky all around,

Fire burns everything from above ground,

One day they said the sky and heavens would fall,

That they would kill us all.

The nukes have fall'n,

All is gone,

It doesn't matter if we're right or wrong,

For we're just a pawn,

In this strange universe.

Full of weird quirks and twists of fate,

Full of so much greed, anger, bitterness, and hate,

In the end,

How could love win?

When the world is full of us backstabbing men,

Plotting each other's death,

Saying we're the best,

When inside we feel alone and longing for someone to love us,

We just couldn't give it a rest.

We had to lie,

All the time,

And I don't know why,

All I know is all this time I've felt this,

And now my wish has been made complete,

I'm old friends with Death because all this time we've,

Had talks on why we lie,

And I finally told him,

I lie,

Because inside,

I truly want to die.

This a very emotional poem and honestly something that many of us feel when we feel all alone and it seems like everyone has turned their back on us. Although, I did like the depth to which this poem explores loneliness and pain... I don't like this feeling that sometimes I also share. It is cold and cruel and empty....

But Great job on writing this. :)

Well, you don't have to deserve niceness... niceness to me is just another form of love... And Love is blind, it doesn't care who it Loves, it just Loves. As was once said, "Freely we serve, because freely we love, as in our will, to love or not; in this we stand or fall."

I love how it ended... I mean, I don't like that the narrator feels this way, but it was a great way to end it. Stupid lack of charisma skills.

Lol, why geez? And I'm glad you liked how it ended, and yes, I don't like it either. Not just because of how someone could feel that way, but because it's me that feels that way. I wrote this not to long ago, like a month or two, and I was feeling this way. I still am sometimes, just not as much. For once in my life, I'm being happy more than I am sad.

A very good poem for thoughts and you left the reader something to ponder.

I tell people. Better to find what you enjoy than fall upon the path of the sheep. A wise person understand his world and know freedom of thoughts and life. We decide our journey good or bad. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

I agree. We focus on the trivial things and are a detriment to ourselves. When people talk about the world ending, they say the beginning will be a natural disaster or something similar. I say that the thing that'll start it all off is Man against himself. Thank you for your comment. :)

That's great! Sometimes I don't understand how people do. Either it's really dark or it's just in my mind not well written. But that's probably because I read Shakespeare, etc, and expect to make it into something that good. Oh well. :p

Nice! I like a lot of ancient Greek writers, Roman-era writers, and I really like the Gothic period writers. I also like 19th century writers. I would say all their names, but that's a lot of people from a lot of different periods. :p And I don't have a favorite list, otherwise I would just say that. xD

True, I know a lot of writers from writing periods I don't like. Even in the periods I like are ones I don't like. And they can, inspiration can come from anywhere.
