Draining

Draining

A Poem by willweb

Draining, slowly draining

from each pore

flows what this should have been

filling buckets with pain

silent ripples in galvanized containers

spilling, quickly spilling

staining sidewalks

on dead end streets

where children play

and people laugh out loud

calling, endless calling

to empty skies

with blank stares

and dark clouds

evaporating the future that is now

draining, slowly draining

Wow, thanks so much. You found one of my older pieces. Glad you liked it.
Finally I get an explanation as to why the future is always just out of reach. It evaporates! And I didn't think I'd learn anything today. Thank you.

Very well done, Will. I like how you inspire the readers to read between the lines. More impressive is your unassuming style. Keep it up.

Fine job, like the alliteration, and the central extended metaphor..
