THE DEEPEST NEED

THE DEEPEST NEED

A Poem by M. L. F.

January winds rushed through her hair

To Heaven she gazed in prayer

The depths to which she needed to go

Subterranean, two thousand layers

below the surface of shallow place

where the soul waits for him -alone

An ocean waiting for the one

waters raged, wind chilled to the bone

Heart calling to it's other half, Heart calling through the storm

His heart, her twin, the missing half that her soul now pulled toward

And staring high upon those stars, on Heaven her heart transformed

As God commanded Heaven's stars to assure she's no longer alone

The stars then told her he too waits, that he too sits out in the cold

Head down that night, neath Heaven's Gate, for the twining of their two souls.

Beautiful, deep and meaningful piece.
I like this very much! The mother in me feels this more as a maternal love... that soul deep love whether romantic or maternal will always call for the other and transcends realms and time.
Memorable words you give. Regards Ray

In his essay "The Poetic Principle," Edgar Allan Poe claimed that "love is unquestionably the purest and truest of all poetical themes" ... couldn't help but think about that as I read this piece. I loved this piece for both its message and the emotion it evoked. I especially enjoyed the imagery in lines 4-8 ... made me imagine a woman drowning in despair ... very poignant image indeed. I also loved how this piece illustrated the ever-lasting unity of love ~ how it transcends the physical world and manifests itself in all things beautiful. For that reason, the longer lines at the end really resonated with me ... they captured the undying strength of love very vividly.

One minor quibble: In the last line, I'd put an apostrophe before the word "neath."

My heart honestly dropped. A downhill rollercoaster. I thought the pace of this specific line of text was godly. It made me shiver with melancholy. cheers.

I really liked this one..... I believe this to be true. A soul can call to another soul. Sometimes the love can be that strong.

as she waits for him, he waits for her...and a love so strong is worth biding the time...because together they will be a powerful star shining in the galaxy.

Thank you! :)
Misty,
Through the sights and sounds of nature you built intensity. Through the Heavens you created spiritual hope. The answered prayers released redemption for two beckoning souls. Great use of imagery to show the depth of the heart crying for love.
Blessings,

This has such a lovely feel to it that I couldn't help but wonder if it should be spoken word, with some swirling wind and sounds of nature in the background.
We can feel the journey is waiting for us in your words, and that acceptance has been reached that no matter how hard that journey may be, what we seek will be there for us when we complete the journey, a journey we all make, unique.
Great piece.

Not much to say except this seems like a religious poem. Is it God--the other half? A soul from the past, a guardian angel? Hmm?

Very cool..👌
You really have a thing with storms, right? 😛
Usually, I quote my favourite lines off a piece.. In this case not so.. 'Cause it all fits together with each of 'em.. I love it and the imagination..
I can even relate to this too.. Maybe because I'm still waiting for my stars to tell me that.. They just seem to have disappeared..sometimes needs overcome desires..
Why do you make me feel all emotional with all your pieces? Damn! I hate that feeling but I love your poem! Truly enchanting! 💜
