Petrichor

Petrichor

A Poem by Chirag Kumar

Rains collide with Earth.
Every drop splinters and invades the ground
to give birth
to the scent of the Divine,
the Petrichor.

Thank you for entering my recent contest "Without you".
Although I suppose this poem could be interpreted symbolically via metaphor to adhere to the theme, I personally perceive this work as the opposite of "without you" :-)
Also, while I'm here, for the benefit of others which may be reading this;
My contest winners/selections ...my choices for "winners" of contests aren't always a reflection of my judgment of the "best" prose; other factors such are taken into consideration such as: " is this good writing AS WELL AS a good fit for a potential project?", "Can my photographer work with this?", "Do I have the ability to translate this to film?" etc.
Indeed, it pains me to reject writing- which in some cases is far superior to others- based solely upon the determination of its' compatibility for my needs and or limitations.
I look forward to more of your work.

I included this in the top choices after all. :-)
Congrats on placing 4th in the "Without You" contest. :-)
This will be interesting to adapt for a short artvideo/film piece though I am very much looking forward to both the scoring and art direction of it. I'll be sending this piece off to Samuel Beam (photographer) soon for his creative interpretation.

Lovely. The smell is something we all wait for to get rid of scorching heat and feel the calm

Petrichor is the scent of earth that is produced when the first rains fall on dry soil.
