My granddaughter Payton and I

We mixed colors from childhood

with gentle tones that came with time

gave birth to a generation

that became the pride of our prime

 

Those were days of joys un-ending

you think we won't see anymore

'Cause where we find ourselves these days

we have never been to before

 

Each place in life brings adventure

meant to try us all of our days

To test resolve and resilience

that we apply to each new phase

 

We will always have a purpose

as now I am called Papa Tate

To tell you the truth I love it

being a grandfather is great

The days of life may dim at times and new things always feel unsafe and insecure. But what we fear is infirmity. However Life is only good as long as it is changing and growing. Like the seasons we come and go and face the end like any man. So it is that when the time comes I'll conform to the masters plan

Grandparents are the only one's who remember it is your birthday even without Facebook reminding them. I love my grandparents. You definitely are an ideal grandpa. What a sweet little, lullaby like piece (because of the song). Big hug.

In India it is said "Interest is more liked than the original sum of money" meaning grandparents are fonder of theor grandchildren than their sons. Very short, sweet snd personal piece. Reminded me of my grampas.. one who died when I was six, other who is idol (as a poet). Thanks for sharing.

well i hate to say this but my grand-kids are not from my own bloodline and i only have one child i can say is truly my own that surely plats a part in the way we feel about it. Though I love them as if they are. I guess my child Tate who is 19 has always been my lifes greatest joy

Oh you know I see too much news too. Stories of the Isis militants murdering children. I watch in disbelief as I look into the genuine innocence of my granddaughters eyes and ask what created these monsters? Then I look back at my granddaughter who is blowing bubbles giggling and I want to cry for those children.
