Bear

Bear

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

He is privy to her secrets none of which he will ever share the lifelong friend, who in the end is her very own Teddy Bear

"
payton and bear

Paytons Bear: True treasure is when her own children will one day hold her little bear and again know the joy that counts above all else his "Love"

Here was the friend that heard the cries

from the monster under the bed

Who stood watch over her at night

just to scare away fear and dread

Through all the pain and the laughter

he's shared the pleasures and the tears

Watched over her every day

as the months have now turned to years

He is privy to her secrets

none of which he will ever share

The lifelong friend, who in the end

is her very own Teddy Bear

He takes the blame for toys left out

while passing her a knowing wink

The mess was his upon the floor

and the dishes not in the sink

His the last face she sees each night

a smile, greets her every morn

Their's is a friendship born of love

the bond that will never be torn

Author's Note

Tate Morgan
In the four years since my granddaughter was born she has had a Bear. This bear stood her in good stead through laughter and tears. He was there when her father died. He dried up all the tears that they both cried. He has slept beside her every night and played with her everyday taking on any roll her skits called for. Payton is rarely seen without Bear.So when her mother called to tell us Payton had taken Bear to show and tell at preschool I had to smile. For here is the repository of all her hopes, dreams and fears. All contained in the little bear with the big heart.

This is such a beautiful poem and I think I must share this:
For me it wasn't a teddy bear, It was penguin stuff animal who I would play with and laugh with, like what you mention in the poem.
I did enjoyed this poem a lot, got to my core and reminded me of my stuff animal
Great work! :)

The message that you are sending through this poem leads us readers to the belief that yes, there is a magic in toys from our childhood and that these toys really should be kept forever to remind us of our absolute closest friends who always seemed to be there for us when no one was around. Thank you so much for such a beautifully written poem. I enjoyed it a lot.

there is always such an open, honest sincerity in your writing that reaches out and touches deeply.. at times a gentle caress that feels warm and fuzzy, other times a big ole squeeze like a comforting hug.. your talent allows us to get lost in the story and emotion, enchanted by your beautiful spirit that shines through each line, giving us glimpses into the blessings in your life. another exquisite piece, Tate..

Such a beautiful tribute. Sometimes you forget how precious it is just to have a friend to hold the space for your tears. No advice or judgement. Just presence. I loved this.

Ah Tate, this brings a lump to my throat and tear to my eye. My own bear knew secrets no one ever did.
Gave me comfort when I needed it. Was my only friend for so long. This poem touches my heart in such a rare way.
