My Sunshine

My Sunshine

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

I awoke de-ar, one night from dream-ing found twenty ye-ars, had slipped me b-y All that ti-me, I'd been for-saken with each gray ha-ir, there came a si-gh

"

My granddaughter Payton last week on the deck.
These are all 24' by 18" canvases done in graphite pencil. I drew this picture last week after playing with her.

When a young ma-n, you were a twin-kle

within the e-ye, of a dream one da-y

I laughed each ti-me, I thought of yo-u

wondering just wha-t, you might sa-y

I awoke de-ar, one night from dream-ing

found twenty ye-ars, had slipped me b-y

All that ti-me, I'd felt for-saken

each new gray ha-ir, there came a si-gh

Just one look de-ar, was all I nee-ded

to know you we-re, the girl I sa-w

The dream I wo-uld, always trea-sure

with the fir-st, of your words Pa-pa

The night no lo-nger, haunts m-e

with dreams of what ma-y, not come tru-e

Now each da-y, a new ad-venture

since life li-t, my world with yo-u

Tate Morgan
To Payton
I wish you a long and happy life. And may your first words be Papa Tate.

I think I broke every rule with this one lol
I was playing with my granddaughter last week on the deck and could swear she said "Papa".That was all it took for me I was hooked. I'm so easy lol

Set to the melody of You Are My Sunshine, the piece is to be sung to the melody. Hence the hyphens and pauses

This is absolutely beautiful Tate, it melted my heart. It really brings me back to when I was little, how wonderful everything was. I can even remember my mother singing this song to me before bed or when I was scared.
Thank you for sharing this piece and thank you for bringing back such precious memories.

Tate! She's a beauty! :) And your poem, regardless of any rules (which are meant to be broken by the adventurous, otherwise how would we do anything new), is a piece of your heart and soul and you immerse us in the love you have for her. A moving and lovely work indeed. You should be proud! I know she will one day after you teach her to read. :) Congratulations "Papa Tate" :)

I understand the feeling of this poem. My kids have grow up. Now my grand children give me life. I spend all the time I can with my two grandsons. They give love to a old man and allow the old man to feel and know laughter and the sound of children running through the house. Thank you for the beautiful poem and drawing.

A very lovely sketch both the picture and the poem. Like my profile picture with my youngest daughter. When you look into their eyes and you know they look up to you for some guidance, you then know that you have gone full circle and have become your parents, as they to will someday. Knowing a part of you will live on and a part of love that you had remains, always, is a great feeling. Children are a gift from God; no doubt about it!

This is the love that not only creates life......
but nurtures it and protects it as well.
Another Gem. I was touched.

Just a beautiful and exquisite poem.. These moments in life are the golden moments carried in our body, mind and spirit for eternity.. This song is the song my Father use to dedicate to me..so thank you for the remembrance and some good tears.. xx
