You Were What You Were

You Were What You Were

You were what you were because of what I made you to be,
Inside my mind everything was altered from what I see,
The truth was skewed relentless from reality,
Why? would you ask were things so different for me,
It was because my mind only believed what it wanted to believe.

Every moment was perceived as blissful encounters,
As though the company would strengthen each endeavor,
For once I felt we could face it all together,
Those words, those phrases, those jesters,
Will always remain in my mind forever.

For a girl who faced all sorts of hell,
Had fallen for this magician's spell,
Every second without him was hard to repel,
because her heart was with him and deeper she fell.

Obsession is the phrase I would use to describe,
the feelings he began to develop inside.
Possession is the act when I refused to comply,
As I fought with countless people.. I simply denied.

Then came those nights a woman would dread,
When the man she loved caused tears to shed.
Whether they were out in public or in the private room's bed,
He cursed and insulted her making her no better than dead.

The pain only grew as the days grew longer,
His resentment began to grow stronger and stronger,
He looked at her with hate, as his mind would wander,
to darker places that fed into a startling form of anger.

Thus she was left with no choice but to flee,
From the man she had dreamed of to one day marry,
In her mind the idea of separation was nothing but scary,
he had to be discarded for her to truly be happy.

You were what you were because of what I made you to be,
Inside my mind everything was altered from what I see,
The truth was skewed relentless from reality,
Why? would you ask were things so different for me,
It was because my mind only believed what it wanted to believe.
