a poem for me

I grew up

Reading poems

Appreciating the

Rhyming words,

Admiring the

Free verse style.

 

I have a long list

Of poets and poetess

Who had inspired me

All through my life’s journey.

 

The love for writing poems

Had been unplanned.

At first, it was just a need,

Later it became a habit.

 

Constantly looking for my muse

Has been a challenge,

Had suffered writer’s block

For more than a decade.

 

Now, I am back on my feet again,

Writing poems has been more than

An outlet,

Through the poems I write,

I am slowly revealing the many

Layers of my persona.

This, is a poem of hope.

Sometimes our muse deserts us, and as you said ten years passed for you but you did not give up. I am pleased that you found the inspiration to continue creating. I agree completely that to write is to reveal. Everything we write is from deep within us, and it expresses more than we wish even if we try our best to censor it. Usually, we cannot escape our demons once the pen finds our hand, but we must release them somehow and I would say that writing is a healthy way to channel that emotion.

Noon bata ako,hindi ko gaanong napagtutunan ang pagsulat ng tula kahit madalas sa activity ginagawa namin ang magsulat ng tula.Pero interisado na ako noon sa pagsusulat lalo na sa pagbuo ng kuwento.Iba kasi hilig ko,pagdrawing,pero nun maghs ako,ang tula ang madalas ko gawin,kung dati hindi ko tinatabi iyon copy pero iyon nga tinatabi ko na, hanggang ngayon kapag may ideas gumagawa ako kahit paano lalo na pag walang writers block.Madalang ako gumawa ng tula na relate sa akin at madalas may kinalaman sa observation ko iyon tema.Pero para na rin pagexpress ng self ko iyon pagsusulat, mapatula,kuwento o kanta man.

Hehe, may magandang mensahe naman kasi iyon tula mo,pinaalala mo sa amin na isa ang pagsusulat para makilala mo ang iyong sarili o sarili natin,nakakapagbigay din ng inspirasyon sa iba.Hindi ako expressive sa personal pero sa pamamagitan ng pagsusulat naiipaalam ko kahit kaunti ang damdamin ko o iniiisip.

I share that love of poetry going back to childhood sette. My paternal grandad would recite Tennyson all the time. I learned it off by heart. Your poem about your affinity to poetry resonated with me. I am so pleased that after a ten year writer's block, you have now found your muse again. Thank you.

My reason for writing was mainly to prove to myself that I wasn't as thick as constantly told by teachers.
