Oh. how I wish

Oh. how I wish

A Poem by The Tao of Bri
"

ravings...do not mind me..purging my passion...

"

Oh, how I wish

I could be such stone in immaculate conservatism

as I ply on my marble like façade from nine to five

not flinching in the face of this existence,

but merely walking through taking it all in

and letting it stream off my contours like

it was all happening to someone else…

no…

I am a liar…

to you and me…

I cannot, nor do I dare even think it,

let alone wish it.

I have seen what this thinking (or non – thinking) does to them.

I would rather be engulfed in an ounce of pure tumultuous waves of passion

in an ocean of mindless sedation then to resign myself

and submit myself to just the everyday lapping of sea shores and sediment

slowly collecting layers on top of layers

until my very soul was a fossil I once dreamed of

instead of flying into the open mists of a raging gale.

No…

I will meet that tempest and fly into it…

for that is living and in my ceasing of being

I can never die…

but if I lie down now belly up…

I would be dead forever!

Author's Note

The Tao of Bri
Throughout my life people have always told me that I think too much. At work I have to compartmentalize those feelings as I deal with a lot of complex emotions...but to be like those that their only care is what sitcom is on that night or a new car every year keeping up with the Jones' seems so peaceful at times...but I could not be that way as my fire and water would surely extinguish and evaporate...so I must find the Peace in what I am and in these bajillion thoughts that course through my soul at any given second...

Never settle for a mediocre, mindless, and loveless life filled with transparent emotions, void of any depth or feeling. That is what this poem says to me.

Very well written and expressed, Bri.

I dig your Tao :)

When you take animals from their kingdoms they become lower even than the meanest slaves of the new domain. What once ruled kingly and naked now eats from a bowl.

Here, here. Very well-expressed sentiment.

sometimes we come back to the words and find that they are as true and straight and tall as when last you read them . . .

This is really very well penned!
I can highly relate myself with it because often my friends also say that I think a lot and also I speak a lot.
The author's note here has played a very important role for me to understand the poem in a better way.
Your choice of words is really brilliant, great work!

Intelligent, troubling, brilliant, inspiring and tough.
This poem took me in and showed me the twisting nether you have once stood in front of. I found so many clashing emotions and confessions that it made me stop breathing.
This poem is truly outstanding.

The vocabulary is complex and very appropriate for a serious poem as this one indeed is.
Imagery and selection of problems and submitted reflections are bizarrely troubleing and made me a bit nervous. I saw a part of myself in them as well.
Brilliant talent that calls for announcing and attention.
Fantasy and common sense are joining hands - powerful inspiration and example for others to learn.
Tough. Tough, i'd say, genius writing, emotionally revealing and courageous. Tough poetry.

I absolutely loved this piece!! So many layers of truth folded over and over.

in an ocean of mindless sedation then to resign myself

and submit myself to just the everyday lapping of sea shores and sediment

slowly collecting layers on top of layers

until my very soul was a fossil I once dreamed of

These lines are just plain brilliant!!!

wow, this completely swept me away, as well as the complex nature of the depth,
and the vision as a whole, eternally invented as ideas
lend themselves with enlightening effect, excellent work here Brian.
I look forward to reading this again. the ending is a perfect image that
gives the meaning its punctuated effect. keep up the great work.

Well explained in our note. The passion expressed in your poem is consuming and elating and contemplative. I can empathize with these various feelings. You are an artist in this sense - building yourself in stone and frenzy rather than living the mundane. Nicely done.

I often have the same argument with myself. We are made the way we are for a reason. And when the rains some we need to remember that the sun will soon follow.

What a wonderful way of expressing your inner self!! Reminds me of myself 15 years ago... I've mellowed some but, most times keep to myself so I do not have to conform to the ways of others.
Fine write INDEED!!
Thanks for sharing, made me feel better!!
