No way to Happiness

No way to Happiness

A Poem by Colleen C Dunphy
"

a little early morning philosophy

"

There is no way to Happiness,

Happiness IS the way.

You cannot spend your life

waiting for Happiness to find you.

You must make yourself Happy.

You must find your own Happiness along the way.

Most people spend their lives living in

the penumbra of Happiness.

They never try to reach for anything more.

Happiness is achievable, but

it wont find you.

You must find happiness.

For me, Happiness is:

Her smile that lights up her whole face.

Spending hours past bedtime just talking to her.

Seeing her on stage knowing how hard she works to be there.

Getting a message from her out of the blue.

Happiness is:

Petting my dog and seeing his tail wag.

Getting puppy kisses.

Seeing how happy he is just to see me.

His cute puppy smile.

Happiness is:

A friend that is always there.

Hugs when you need them the most.

A job that makes you happy.

Helping a stranger on the street.

Happiness is:

Family, in the good times and the bad.

Love. The beginning, the middle and even the end.

Hope, for a better future for our country.

Trust in a better tomorrow for our children.

Happiness is:

The little things from day to day.

A great cup of chai from starbucks.

A hot motorcycle, ridden by a hot woman.

A cold beer on a hot day.

Happiness is:

Being able to do what we love.

Write.

Read.

Love.

Happiness is:

Living.

I agree with another comment here, about people whining about life. Everybody makes their own happiness.

Really loved this, the message, the way you've written it. It's the simple things that make it all worthwhile. Oh, and you use "penumbra". I like it when people use words you never hear.

I needed this today; seems everyone is on a downer. Dramatics are everywhere all of a sudden. So thanks! I agree with all of it. You can't just sit there in the corner and wait for good things to happen. You have to get up and go LIVE. My happiness? When I see my son learn how to do something new. That is priceless.

Happiness is so many things as you say in this great piece

and can be found so often, sometimes we seem sad when happiness

is staring us in the face, but we can't see it because of negative attitudes

I will say this, Chocolate and Starbucks sure help me a lot lol~ Great WritE!~

not just an excellent write but an outstanding message in this piece. Too many people choose to spend their time whining about their plight; I'd rather let go what I can't control and poke fun at life. I choose to laugh - because crying just isn't any fun, ever lol.

I love this poem for two reasons: (1) you used the word "penumbra", and (2) your optimism. I wish I was as optimistic as you.

A great read thank you for sharing.

Very inspiring. Made me want to break out in song when I finished. =]

I agree, happiness is a Chai from Starbucks, as much as it is puppy breath.

Great wring. Kudos to you.

For a starter; It's a real great piece you've written there. I enjoyed reading the whole thing, but I only agree with some of them. You see, that lines you wrote; "Happiness is achievable, but it wont find you. You must find happiness." I don't really agree with that, because there's an old saying; "You'll never get what you want, but it will come to you and be your eventually" But, hey, that's just me. Until I read those lines; "You cannot spend your life waiting for Happiness to find you. You must make yourself Happy. You must find your own Happiness along the way." I'll buy that one...

Other than that, it's all still good tho...

Amen to happiness! I love chai too.
Great poem that reminds us there is more to life. Especially in this work-a-holic society where bad news belches from the media day and night.
Beautifully done! And thanks for perking up my day! :-)

Oh wow so very profound... yes happiness is in the little things in life, we just need to go out and do the things we love and enjoy all the things around us like nature, family and friends. Loved this deep and meaningful piece.

There is more truth in this piece than any other I have read. Happiness is something you are capable of achieving and I love the fact that you say it is your choice...Wonderfully written my friend! Absolutely!

I love this piece and it is one of my favorites!
