Sinful Bliss

Sinful Bliss

A Poem by Carissa Marie

"Pick a fruit," he tells me.
And I reach out to pluck a fruit from the tree.
"See how sweet, how juicy, how blissfully wonderful it tastes,"
As I nod and take a little bite.
The fruit tastes sinfully sweet in my mouth
And it transcends me -
To a world full of pleasure,
To a world far from mine.
I savour the heavenly taste of his fruit
'Til the sweetness takes over my body,
With a lingering promise of more.
But the fruit leaves a bitter aftertaste,
And I become aware.
I am naked-
Lying in the coldness of the hard marble floor,
With unbreakable chains clinging to my skin.
I hear his low, monotonous voice-
A voice without a hint of emotion,
Manipulating me with commands.
I can see his brooding eyes-
Unseeing,
Clouded-
A hole of nothingness taking me a prisoner.

He pops another fruit into my mouth,
And whispers-
"See how sweet, how juicy, how blissfully wonderful sin tastes like,"
As I nod and take a little bite,
My soul is his once again.
