Last Dance

Last Dance

A Poem by AaronFreitas
"

Hope you like it

"

I’ve waited patiently all night,

Sedentary, admiring your beauty.

You’ve danced the night away…

But this last dance I saved for you.

Take my hand and just trust,

Trust and believe in this moment.

My heart is empty - but truthfully,

That means I have more love to give.

A quick glance into your eyes…

Proof that true beauty still exists.

The touch of your sleek soft skin…

Too amazing for me to resist.

I’ve been waiting for a woman like you,

To take my hand and fill my heart with love.

In this moment our souls align perfectly…

As if you’re an angel sent from above.

Our song ends and the warmth of your

Tender lips releases from my lips…

I watch as you gently walk away,

Glancing back… hoping I ask you to stay.

But I lingered quietly and watched my dreams fade,

A pure love is not destined for me.

I pushed away an angel packed with love,

And chose to stay heartbroken even in a dream.

One of my favorite Russian poets is Alexander Pushkin. Him being put into a Lyceum school turned him into a hopeless romantic. Although he certainly has his share of romantic poetry, and poetic fairy-tales (folktales, whatever you want to call them) I also admire his writing because of the fact that he really played around with rhythmic styles. Once you read one of his poems, it starts to flow in one way, and then the rhyming changes making it flow in a different way all of a sudden. This is what you have done here. And that is what makes the piece a lot of fun for me to read. I'm sorry it took me so long to finally read and review this piece. I'm only now getting close to reading through all of my read requests.

Thank you very much Ely... glad you enjoyed it :)
This is quite magical, with all those words building the perfect aura, it's been beautifully executed, sometimes we have these fears we'd rather not consciously think about and then they slip to the back of the mind and they only silently creep into our dreams. Love the poem. Just this tiny note on this line 'As if you're an angel sent from above', it's a wee bit cliche, and you've certainly no lack of creativity. All the same, a charming, lovely piece Aaron, keep writing.

Thank you very much Maria :) Appreciate your review
You were pretty aggressive my friend for all this this outlay of pent up emotion to occur in one dance, the last dance of the evening. And then knowing, that she wants you to stay, you turn and walk away. By choice, I might add!
Are you nuts when you are dreaming? Get it from a pretty lady when you can! Then think about it in the morning,
This was a nice write, Aaron! You need to work on your grammar. I could pick pick you apart but, I will not because you poem is so good.

Saddening life can taint our hearts so...how many opportunities do we opt out of through fear...when that fear is often misguided, sigh...heartfelt Aaron...

Yes indeed my friend... thanks so much for your review :)
Even a dream can be to good to be true. "I pushed away an angel packed with love" I love this line, it clarifies you and your decision to be who you are even at the cost of being heartbroken. Clap, Clap, Clap, encore!

Thank you very much Bear :) I like your point of view on it :)
Love, or what we think we call love, can sometimes blind us too. As the saying goes, if something seems too good to be true......then probably it is. On the other hand, when the oyster opens up, and we see inside a beautiful pearl, our hestitation to enjoy and "keep" such beauty is mind-boggling......

I guess love was designed to keep the hearts and minds of poets occupied for as long as they live....:)

Great writing!
