I WAS WINTER...

I WAS WINTER...

A Poem by An owl on the moon
"

I was winter to be read in a whisper

"

I was blue winter

crystal, dormant splintered…

You were blushing spring

budding, flowering beginnings…

My heart encased

in frosted wintertide replaced

by your golden ride

your fertile, thriving springtide…

Cold sleep, white spell

apple orchard scents now swell…

Misting breath now warm

your untamed hands a living storm…

Lilting clouds kiss

the hills like angel wings amiss…

Passionate desire

rising within me like sunfire…

I was winter…

Whispered all the way through this and it is magnificent. You write so the imagery brings the emotions with it. The feeling of cold, then its dormency, the slow beginning of Spring's warmth and the magical infusion of feelings that her gentle touch begins to bring to the earth and the approval the sky gives in the beautiful artistry of clean bright colors and images for the newly arrived below. Life's plate had been wiped clean and she has now arrived to renew once again the bounties of life. Upon arrival, she kissed winter goodnight and succumbing to her charms, he melts into the earth to add the much needed moisture of his purifying love to fertilize Springs new eggs of life. Of course only my thoughts on this beatiful piece of artistic writing. Your magic pen created desire for the seasons and gave birth to another masterpiece by you. Great job!

Everything about this is so beautiful! The way you tell her that she is the life that melted your heart is overwhelming. I felt myself holding my breath yearning for the next word, and then not wanting it to end. I am putting this in my favorites...but it deserves so much more!

Ah, Craig...
can you please stop writing such amazingly articulate fairytales?
My poor jaded heart can not take another one of you brilliant flowing tales of romantic hope. You make everyone want to believe, you should have been a preacher.

An excellent piece this; reminiscent of all the goodly things a Keats poem can bestow, yet with unique tone and modern lilt. A real romance tinged with seasonal modifiers, hinting at joy. Nicely done.

The last line of the poem says it all. I was winter. What you have written shows the powerfull effect some one can have on a life without love. But when love comes, it is a day with sunshine and oh so much more. Nicely done.
