Chipped Lover

A Poem by InvisibleInk
"
Written for contest
"

You hold that coffee cup up

to your cold lips and drink

after the words you said

about how our lives

have grown old and brown

like withered pages of a book

and bring it back down

it's edges chipped

from the times it

was thrown across the room

You carry that chip

on your shoulders

like a great weight

bringing you down

and I see you, broken in bits

my chipped lover
