Angels Never Lie

Angels Never Lie

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)
"

My aunt recently passed away and now i found out my friend lost her grand father, so it got me thinking and writing, this is the results.

"

When the soul of someone

Close to our heart

Makes its peaceful journey home

The emotions are bittersweet,

For the loss of their physical presence

Leaves a hole in our heart

That no amount of condolences

Could ever fill,

But once the pain of the loss

Becomes second nature

There comes a special kind of serenity

That adds a fondness to our heart

Knowing that our loved one

Earned the right

To be part of heaven’s light

That shines on us,

Even when the darkest clouds

Try to drown out our spirit.

It is inconceivable to think

We could ever fill the void

Of a dearly departed’s human form,

We just need to remember

That angels never lie

When promoting a guardian

In life to the after life

To forever be by our side.

Good read, not sure about the part where grief becomes second nature but it does become tolerable as time passes by. Thanks for sharing your perpective.

thank you for sharing your insight.
I agree with your message wholeheartedly. The first 6 or 8 lines started out sounding a little ho-hum, with overused phrases, common for such situations. This is where originality began: "But once the pain of the loss becomes second nature . . . " I'm not sure anyone else would describe grief as ever becoming second nature, but becuz you did, it was thought-provoking & also true. The most original part is the tone, not sounding dreary & deep & sad . . . instead, a note of serenity thru-out, reflecting your message that death can bring about a whole new & interesting relationship with the deceased.

A beautiful poem my friend. Death teaches us to appreciate life. To appreciate the people near and hold them tighter. Thank you for the amazing poetry.
