SCOTLAND

SCOTLAND

A Poem by Baby Ricochet
"

Secession in a civilized nation

"

Old Scotland wanted to secede
The people cast their vote
The no votes held the ballot box
Scot independence smote

The losers bowed out gracefully
The winners didn't gloat
Old Nessy kept the Union jack
The nation held the vote

Not a single shot was fired
No voting with the gun
The Scots achieved a victory
They showed us how it's done

Author's Note

Baby Ricochet
Scotland pulled off an incredible feat this week. They pushed independence all the way to a popular vote and no one got killed, no troops called out, no one blew up a voting booth, no calls for an armed rebellion, nothing. The Scots taught the world how a civilized people attempt succession. They turn out in massive numbers to vote and accept the outcome. So here's to the Scots. HIP HIP HOORAY!!! HIP HOP HOORAY!!! HIP HIP HOORAY!!!

Nicely said! Did you take the photo yourself, by any chance? The combo of poem and photo, along with your smart observation, made for an enjoyable read. Now how will it play out in Catalonia?

Okay, now that's what I call a contemporary poem-passionate, to-the-point, and fun. My favourite lines would be
It was certainly tough to pick one, but I think "Scot independence smote" steals the show.

Thanks for stopping by
Short. sweet and simple . Lovely and straight to the point. I compeltely agree with your sentiment aswell it is a shame that other disagreements cannot be settled with the need of warfair if only other nations could take this little voting thing on board and not find the need to bomb the s**t out of each other.

I love your final paragraph, who am i kidding i love them all but something leaps out at me from it and it embeds the message with leaving a meaningful and thought provoking after taste

Thank you ama May
Considering all that has happened in Ireland, Scotland's feat is damn near miraculous. I like this poetic tribute to an amazing thing.

You've got to get used to the accent. She's just a regular person who did this anti UK video. I loved it.

Thank you Blue. It's good to see you back
Good write on a current event. Well done.

They did it better than we did. We had to go to war to become independent. Perhaps this could become a new trend that history should learn to repeat.
