'Speak to Me of Truth'

'Speak to Me of Truth'

A Poem by Frieda P

...and the Raven spoke to the butterfly
            "speak to me of truth"
the reply came humbly,
'who's truth do you want?'
The Raven looked a bit perplexed...
'there is only one truth that does not lie' he muttered.
Butterfly responded, 'perhaps it is as beauty, my clever friend;
'tis in the eye of the beholder'
Once again the flutterby spread her magnificent wings,
"there was a time I was held captive in a suffocating cocoon with no light, now watch me as I brilliantly take flight into the night'
As she fluttered off she left him with this thought to ponder,
'through your keen  Raven eyes, which is  the truth of truths
you wish to find in me?'

I may have to dance barefoot to this review, thanks Holly!!
When my students bicker and I try to sort out their differences I know the truth lies somewhere in the middle of everyone involved. We believe our own truths but the eye of the beholder slightly skews the truth held honestly by others. I love this story/parable/poem.

Finally I can breathe again. So much thought was provoked by your beautiful offering. As if the wind has shifted and a cool breeze of joy has met my face, causing my smile to be unending. You were desperately missed my sweet friend.

So glad to be back Cassie, thank you muchly.
you reminded me of Miss Dickinson

1207

He preached upon "Breadth" till it argued him narrow—
The Broad are too broad to define
And of "Truth" until it proclaimed him a Liar—
The Truth never flaunted a Sign—

Simplicity fled from his counterfeit presence
As Gold the Pyrites would shun—
What confusion would cover the innocent Jesus
To meet so enabled a Man!
