I Enjoy Everything About Being A Woman

I Enjoy Everything About Being A Woman

A Poem by jdr / Jennifer
"

I was recently asked, “What makes me feel alive?”

"

I Enjoy Everything About Being a Woman.

When I am able to put the day to rest

Life content just so

Integrity intact

Maybe a few doubts

But now it’s time to let all of that go

And truly enjoy everything there is about being a woman

Sensitive soft skin, a gentle touch

The spill of satin as my hair drops to my shoulders

Cascading down the line of my back

Looking past it all, with a mischievous smirk

Reflecting on what elegant, yet clever creatures we are

Leaning back into the hot steamy tub, I close my eyes

The flickering of the candles that engraves my skin with its massive flame

The sudsy water illuminating the curve of my hips

The taste of my lips so perfectly red, bitter as wine

I enjoy everything about being a woman

With a fortitude of emotional capabilities

Always enduring, quite endearing and sometimes, overwhelmed

Our eternal commitment to those we love is what matters most

Believing in and knowing that for them, we will make a difference

If not in our life time, then in theirs

The sorrow that aches our hearts as we wave our sons and daughters off to war

Broken to the core from the loss of an infant

Caring for those who may no longer be able to care for themselves

This is what builds up the character

The scar only a woman can bare

Her heroism holding it all together

Understanding that life is not always fair

For anyone…

It’s our need to love all that needs love

To be kind when it is thought that there is no kindness left

Yet we are consciously aware of all that is real and true

We believe in honest virtues and laboriously carry our convictions

And will fight until we see the problem through

True to my female form

I enjoy everything about being a woman

Your hand delicately pulls the long golden locks away from my face

My fingertips caressing the small of your back

Just that one look that makes you know it will all be okay

A kiss on your forehead, on your cheek

The temptation

The tantalizing taste that I will never again know

Following your every move with my eyes

Knowing that because of me, today you will smile

It is that in which we combine together

With all of its sorrows and all of its greatness that makes us what and who we are

I am alive because I am woman

Because I come from a long line of perfervid profound women who have held their own against all odds and have come out fighting

Struggling to create a better life for their children, for their families

A better life for themselves

And while still trying to hold it all together

We have accomplished leaps and bounds where others thought we would have fallen

We have reached new heights and opened closed doors where others knew we would fail

We have cared for the home front as both a mother and father when there has been none

We have allowed strangers to weep on our shoulders

To share the joys of our heart and souls

To know that all is safe within the confinements of our nurturing arms

Giving away comfort by the warmth of our love and understanding

I enjoy ‘everything’ about being a woman

Their are many things that only women can do. Their love, their strength, and the blessings of motherhood are just a few. I read somewhere that women can also sustain more pain than men, so while their skin is sensitive and soft it is also very durable and strong. The message is wonderful and its very clear and easy to follow; it’s also a wonderful oath to all women.

Your words picked themselves up from the page and walked straight into my heart. You've said everything that can possibly be said about being a woman who loves being a woman ... and you've said it well.

I wish all women were like you, fortunately for myself and family my wife is one of these women. This is a wonderful tribute to the warriors we call mother.

What can I say, this is simply beautiful. Inspirational, uplifting and encouraging. A wonderful portrait of how one should love as expressed by you, the character of a woman that one should aspire to. Elegant verse. Imagery and descriptives are well done. You paint a vivid picture of womanhood that any reader can appreciate and see in their mind's eye. Flow is good; line to line transition and breaks are well done. Very nice rhythm. Deep expression of emotion. I can relate. Excellent closing lines. Well penned and a most enjoyable read. Write on!

:: your return to the universe of verse is SPECTACULAR, dear jenn... what a piece this is... it's sweet poetic justice... magical, mellifluous and mesmerizing poetry... that fills my heart with warmth and inspiration... :: i think the way you have celebrated the depth of womanhood is astounding... you heard the heartbeat of every woman and wrote it in infinitely poetic words... :: i'll always remember this precious piece... and i'll always remember the precious poetess who wrote it... more power to your pen... absolutely outstanding work, dear jenn... as beautiful as you are... :)

yes, because of women...men smile!

the understanding, the softness, yet the intense bravery and resolve...in so many ways, they are stronger than we.
