I Declare Sorcery

I Declare Sorcery

A Poem by Riley Bray
"

...So it shall be...

"
I'm sorry but I never think I'm good enough,
Sitting here with high hopes of publication,
Only for my dreams to be tarnished by the very people that surround me,
Those who deserve it clearly more than I,
And whose skills are far more honed.

But such mixed feelings
Change by the wayside of a mountain made of marble
And the cat of tabby descent.
Whose skills and expertise I look up to, due to their excellency,
But also I revere, for the same reason.

Praise, for me,
Is to be handed a golden chalice,
Filled to the brim with an enticing drug
That will get me hooked on cockiness...
And though I know it, still like a drug, I cannot help myself.

And then in only a matter of time,
As if I had been waiting for such an event,
Soldiers arrive to knock me off my high horse,
And I plummet back into my little hole
And hide myself away again for ages.

All I have to say to that?
Well my friend,
I declare sorcery.
