Dropping ByA Poem by john l smitha visitI was talkin to my visitor Just the other day He’d come down from the trees above To eat and have his say
And say, he did Making quite a racket Then he ate all my birdseed Consuming an entire packet
I asked why his tail had such a curve He replied, “So I can swish and swerve!” Which he did constantly Travelin tree to tree
When he’d finishing scoffin And went back upon the run I wondered were I a squirrel Would I enjoy all that climbin fun
But now I’m old and grey My knees no longer have their say So it will be just in my mind That I’ll join that little squirrel’s climb
