A Poem by john l smith
"

a visit

"

I was talkin to my visitor

Just the other day

He’d come down from the trees above

To eat and have his say

And say, he did

Making quite a racket

Then he ate all my birdseed

Consuming an entire packet

I asked why his tail had such a curve

He replied, “So I can swish and swerve!”

Which he did constantly

Travelin tree to tree

When he’d finishing scoffin

And went back upon the run

I wondered were I a squirrel

Would I enjoy all that climbin fun

But now I’m old and grey

My knees no longer have their say

So it will be just in my mind

That I’ll join that little squirrel’s climb

Another nature poem, and very nice it is too. I love squirrels. We used to get quite a few in our garden. They used to bury walnuts, but now the walnut tree has died, we don't see them as much. Neither do we have little walnut trees sprouting up all over the gsrden. I kinda miss them Dave.

Aw sorry to hear that.............
Hey Dave, I have to say that this poem is a bit "squirrelly"! Those guys seem to be everywhere. I do admire how they do what they do. and I admire what you did with this poem.
