"New Years Kiss"

"New Years Kiss"

A Poem by Kameron Armitage
"

depressing story written in a poem

"

One year ago today,
I felt my life drift astray,
It was new years eve,
So much to acheive.

She had her party,
I had mine,
Two bottles of Bacardi,
My little glass of wine.

My wedding ring in hand,
Her keys in the ignition,
Memories keep flooding,
Just painful reminicing.

I was going to propose,
A relationship for life,
All I ever wanted,
Was go make her my wife.

Her cold car started,
My warm heart raced,
The moment closing in,
This feeling can't be erased.

I waited for her diligently,
She swerved down the street,
Anxious for every waking second,
As her tires burned on the concrete.

The moment finally came,
As their two cars collided,
Was it destiny? Fate?
It had been decided.

She lied there,
Lifeless on the ground,
That phone call came,
And my emotions were drowned.

I fell on my knees,
In a helpless cry for you,
But the actions had been done,
Nothing left I could do.

One year ago today,
A moment I didn't want to miss.
All I ever wanted,
Was that new years kiss.
