Stuck in the Dark Months

Stuck in the Dark Months

A Poem by Lexi Richard

Although my skin is gold
and the sun lingers long,
it feels like I am stuck
within the Dark Months
And I know the heat
but I only feel the cold -
like an old friend
giving a hand to hold
And somewhere between
June and July I fell
into the the abyss
of my Dark Month Hell
And like a cavern
I feel bats fly astray
they're the beat in my chest
because my heart stopped in May
But I continue my work,
free as a caged bird
stuck in the Dark Months -
my mind still uncured
-l.r.

Brilliant. Imaginative thoughts. The first and last stanzas are amazing. And as usual I can relate to this.
